So, I wanted to install Solaris 11 on my computer and dual boot it along with windows for a couple of reasons
1) Java is an Excellent Programming language, and since Sun is owned by Oracle I figured there would be plenty of applications written in Java for me to ogle at
2) Oracle is a "Big Bad Business", they're here to make money and they're not planning on going away any time soon SO I figured Solaris 11 would have many features that would be oriented toward consumers
3) Oracle would update it Regularly like a Windows or Macintosh
Unfortunately this is what I got instead
-A rather Long Load time
-A buggy interface
-A freeze up that made me have to Force a shutdown for
Basically, It didn't work out for me as a desktop solution
And it wasn't mean to be
I was excited about it, and perhaps I should be
however, for using it as my desktop doesn't seem to be an option
Regardless, I'm excited to see what future Oracle has for Solaris
I think it can become something great. With proper man power and seeing how people are so passionate about Linux Distrobutions, perhaps they will be able to Make it a proper desktop solution in the future
